It is well documented spending time with animals lowers heart rate, blood pressure and increases a person's sense of well-being. The goal of animal assisted therapy is to improve a persons social, emotional and/or cognitive functioning.
Use of animals in therapy, whether actively participating or by being present, has shown many positive results, particularly in cases such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, stress, sexual abuse victims, neurodiversity and more.
Snuffles is a Pugzu which is a cross between a Shitzu and a Pug. She is small in size due to Chihuahua being somewhere in the mix. She is currently undergoing training through PAWS (People and Animal Wellbeing Service) and hopes to have her assessment in the next couple of months. Snuffles comes into the office at least one day a week at the moment so may be there when you come for your session.
During your initial consultation (if you chose to have one) and on your client intake form, you are given the opportunity to tell me about about allergies you may have associated to dogs, but please don't hesitate to message me if you need to discuss this further before sessions begin.
