Couples counselling is counselling sessions attended by couples rather than individuals. If you are experiencing relationship difficulties with your partner then couples counselling can help you get to where you want to be. As a couple you will work with the counsellor to get the best possible outcome for your relationship. The counsellor will always remain neutral and not take sides.
You can have couples counselling at any time you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship. Sometimes both partners are struggling within the relationship and sometimes it might be only one person. The important thing to remember though is both parties need to be willing to engage in the counselling process for it to be effective.
The short answer is no. Something that will always be discussed in the first session is what you would like to get out of the counselling. For many it might be to stay together, for others they may not know but want to use the counselling as a way to explore what is best for them. If that is to separate, then counselling can also help to make the process more amicable.
Any subject causing you to have problems within your relationship can be explored. These can include: lack of trust, family conflicts, work related stress, communication issues, jealousy, betrayal or an affair.
Couples counselling is £60 for a 50 minute session.
If you would like to book a double session lasting 1hr 40 mins the cost is £90.
